the supposed "budget emergency" that the liberals have whinged about since they lost government is to be rectified should they make it in-- they've announced their big savings

and as it turns out it was no budget emergency after all! all their "savings" amount to less than half a percent of the total budget (as in, they're insignificant) and the overwhelming majority of these much-lauded "savings" are to come from slashing the foreign aid budget.

so there you have it. essentially the LNP scheme to pay the wealthy to have a baby will be paid for by scrapping our foreign aid contribution (in fact, the PPL scheme is expected to cost even more than the foreign aid funds being redirected)

and announced just days before the election too, so you know, there's real time available to debate it and the like. UNICEF has said the liberal's petty savings will be found "at the expense of children's lives"

EXPENSE OF CHILDREN'S LIVES. the premiere international organization for keeping children alive is saying the liberals will kill children with their policy madness. so it seems abbott, "mr abortion-should-be-rare", cares about children strictly so long as they're still in the womb

paying people who already have lots of money even more money to have children = fair dinkum

saving children already in existence by delivering aid to the desperate poor = we have a budget emergency and can't just waste aussie dollars on foreign kids (and so therefore implicitly NOT fair dinkum)
